2010 Wake Games

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

The Wakeboard Camp would like to congratulate everybody who rode at the 2010 Wake Games! The Wakeboard Camp’s own had a strong showing. Hayley Smith came in 5th, Amber Wing got 3rd, Ben Greenwood made it past 2 rounds of action and into the semifinals, and Kurt Robertson pulled a Phil Mickelson and became the new Masters Champion!

All of us at TWC really enjoyed bumping into many of our friends at the games. It’s always fun to see our water slashing friends come back to support the sport we all love. Thanks for making it a fun weekend everybody!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Congratulations to all friends and staff of The Wakeboard Camp at both Worlds competitions this past weekend! The WWA Worlds went down in Orlando at OWC and IWSF had theirs on the very same weekend on the other side of the world in Chuncheon, Korea. Here are some results for ya:

WWA Worlds in Orlando

  • Michaela de Waern – 2nd Pro Women Wakeskate
  • Amber Wing – 3rd Pro Women
  • Kurt Robertson – 6th Masters
  • Matt Doke – 4th Jr. Boys
  • Bryan Kryzda – 5th Jr. Men
  • Paulie Koch – 4th Boys

Those are just a handful of competitors who have helped make The Wakeboard Camp a fun place to be. Other riders that made good showings were Hayley Smith, Marcos Torres, Darren Bishop, and Kaesen Suyderhoud. There are many more as well, so great job to everybody! It was sweltering hot in Orlando, and everybody put up some real impressive stuff.

Now, here are some results from the other side of the world:

IWSF Worlds in Korea

  • Raequel Hoffman – 1st Pro Women
  • Shawna Hoffman – 5th Pro Women
  • Bec Gange – 6th Pro Women

Great job to the Hoffman sisters and Bec for making the finals in her first pro event. Chris Dunn also made it past the first round with his buttery smooth style. Word is that the wind was pretty fierce over there, so great job toughing it out everybody.

The Summer Migration Has Begun!!

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Everyone is enjoying the balmy weather that has been brining glassy water and blue skies, fingers crossed that we will be seeing this everyday! After the past few weeks of storms the water level on our chain of lakes has risen which, is always a good help to get the big clean wakes we all enjoy from the camp Malibu’s.

The annual TWC migration has begun with old and new faces settling in for the warmer months. Australians Bec Gange, Jamie Brooks, Hayley Smith, Amber Wing with New Zealander Darren Bishop are all escaping the Southern winter, while our token Mexican Marcos Torres who has been a camper at TWC on numerous occasions is also joining our crew in the build up to the 2009 World titles. Add to all of those names Kyle Schmidt, Chad Lowe, Kurt Robertson, Robert Sichel, Billy Park and Kaesen Suyderhoud who are our full time coaches.

As you all can tell things are looking great for the 2009 summer so go get your board shorts and towel packed, we will see you all soon at TWC!!
