About our School

The Wakeboard Camp has led the way in wakeboarding instruction since 1996. We have taught more people to wakeboard better than anyone else in the world! This has given us the opportunity to develop cutting edge coaching techniques that are unmatched.

Our program includes several phases, including classroom sessions, on land training and of course, on the water training.

The first phase of our curriculum begins on Monday morning with an orientation meeting where you will learn all about how the camp works. We will go over the schedule, safety, hand signals, description of terms and a little about how we coach so that you can get the most out of your week at the camp.

This is followed with an in depth classroom session describing the physics behind the sport. We teach you how the boat, the rope and the wake all combine to affect what you do on the water. This method of teaching you the physics of the sport, before teaching you the actual tricks, will help you understand why you will do the things you do, instead of just teaching you how.

Next we get into how your actions behind the boat influences how you move on the water. We do this by breaking each trick into its’ most basic elements. These elements include body position, board control, edging, jumping, spinning and flipping. We then show you how all of these things work independently and how mastering each of them separately, gives you a much greater chance of learning tricks with fewer falls. Our motto here at the camp is “work less for more control.” In other words we will teach you how to harness the energy of the boat and the wakes to help you get air and land tricks.

Once you have a good grip on how it’s all going to work, we head out to the lake. Your muscles then get the chance to learn what your brain just absorbed. Our coaches have developed a bunch of on the water exercises that are designed to eliminate variables that can complicate the learning process. Some of these exercises include the two and four minute drills, just to name a couple. This approach allows you to focus on one skill at a time, helping you build confidence through repetition and making each skill a habit. Once you create a bunch of good habits, tricks that you previously thought to be out of reach, suddenly become possible.

Our style of coaching works for all riders, regardless of their level of experience. This means that total beginners will get as much out of this course as seasoned professionals.

Some of the other off the water training devices include a trampoline, Indo Boards, and centrifugal handles. These devices let you work on your skills in between sessions. They help you get used to rotations, work on balance, and practice handle passes in order to build your muscle memory through repetition.

Most riders are interested in progressing their free-riding, but we also teach wakeskating, wakesurfing, and how to hit rails. Spend a session learning to wakeskate with Aaron Reed. Or, grab one of our Liquid Force wake-surfboards and surf your heart out. We also offer trips to the Orlando Watersports Complex so you can learn how to hit ramps and rails on your wakeboard or wakeskate. The cable park is a great place to learn your obstacle skills since there is no wake to mess you up. On the trip to OWC we make a stop at the worlds' premier water sports shop, Performance Ski and Surf. While you are there you can purchase goods with your Wakeboard Camp discount.

The Wakeboard Camp coaching staff includes some of the biggest names in the industry. These guys have made their careers out of teaching people how to ride better, and it shows. Please see our coaches page for more info on all of our coaches.

Our coaches gather frequently to talk about which coaching techniques and exercises are giving the best results. This ensures that the coaching not only gets better, but also stays consistent. Wakeboarding is still a young sport and we are learning more and more every day, solidifying our reputation as the worlds’ greatest wakeboard training center. We love to pass on the knowledge of proper wakeboarding fundamentals to anyone willing to listen.
