Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Why The Wakeboard Camp?
We have the best coaches in the world. Our head coach, Kyle Schmidt is the Instructional Editor for Wakeboarding Magazine. Ben Greenwood is the 2005 Alliance Wakeboard Magazine Rider of the Year. Amber Wing is the 2009 Alliance Female Rider of the Year. We also have a few other pro riders who come and go during our busy season. Plus, TWC was set up specifically as a year round wakeboard camp. There are other camps that are either part of a ski school, an afterthought set up temporarily, and some are even on houseboats or mobile. We have a full office and kitchen staff providing everything you could possibly need for your trip.
Am I good enough to come to the camp?
This may be the most common question that we receive. There are no prerequisites to be able to attend the camp. We teach riders of all levels from complete beginners to total rippers. Actually in some cases, the less you know, the better your chances of advancing more quickly. It usually takes the average rider a day or two to break old habits before they can start learning new ones. If you don't have any old habits, you can learn things right the first time.
Where is the camp located?
In Clermont, Florida...  30 minutes west of Orlando. Please see our "Maps & Directions" section for more details.
How old do I have to be to attend the camp?
We do not have any age requirements to come to the camp. However, camper ages do vary throughout the year. Typically the spring break and summer months primarily bring teenagers. The ages range from 12-21 years old. The month of May and also the off-peak season (September- February) is usually when we have the older crowds. There is no right or wrong time to come.
When can I come to the camp?
The Wakeboard Camp is opened year round, except for the week of Christmas. We run every Sunday to Saturday, riding Monday through Friday. We do also offer day lessons and weekend riding. Please contact us for more details on smaller packages.
What type of supervision do you have at the camp?
If there are underage (below 18 years old) students at the camp, we offer supervision 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Every night we have an manager on duty, who is a staff member scheduled to sleep here and look after the students. Underage campers are required to stay on the property at all times unless they are accompanied by a coach or staff member.
Are there alligators in the lake?
Every lake in Florida has alligators, however, you would be lucky to actually see one! Due to the increase in population of our area and the large size of our lakes, alligators have become more and more sparse. Gators are likely to stay in the canals and guarded areas where there is less action. They are more scared of us then we are of them.
Do girls come to the camp?
We do have both guys and girls at the camp. The girls have separate lodging, with a private bathroom and shower.
Do you have private lodging?
Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have private rooms and apartments. We have demolished our private accommodations in order to build a whole new facility. If you are interested in a more private setting, we have plenty of other options to recommend. Please contact us for further details.
